Brief Description:

**The Yale College Postgraduate Fellowships Common Application will open on Monday October 27, 2025)**

Application deadline: January 29, 2026 @ 1:00pm Eastern Time

The Yale College Postgraduate (YCPG) Fellowships are a collection of awards that support a wide range of independently proposed activities undertaken by graduating seniors. Fellowships may range in duration from three months to a full year (9–12 months), with the earliest possible start date in May following Yale Commencement. These awards are administered by the Office of Fellowships and share a single, common application and review process.

Special Notes:
·  Students may apply for the fellowships included in this Common Application only once during their Yale career—and only as graduating seniors.
·  There is only one application cycle per year. December graduates must follow the fellowship timeline and apply during the regular application cycle (deadline January).

Description:

This page is where students who are applying for one or more of the Yale College Postgraduate (YCPG) Fellowships (listed below) will electronically submit their Common Application. These fellowships administered by the Office of Fellowships, share a single application form and process.

Please read this entire page carefully and in full. Applicants are responsible for following the instructions outlined here. Reviewing all fellowship details ahead of time will help you come to advising meetings prepared and able to make the most of your time with an advisor. After reviewing the materials, you are welcome to bring any questions to your appointment.

The application contents and instructions are posted in the links below.

The Common Application includes a list of fellowships that applicants may select for consideration. Applicants provide one set of materials (e.g. proposal, budget, and letters of recommendation, etc.) for a single, independently designed activity.  While applicants do not need to customize their proposal for each individual fellowship, they are encouraged to write their materials—especially the proposal—with one specific fellowship in mind to help focus their narrative. Each fellowship has its own eligibility & selection criteria, and all submitted applications will be reviewed for every fellowship the applicant is eligible for from the list provided below. Finalists may be contacted for additional materials or interviews as needed.

Please note, each of the following fellowships has unique eligibility requirements and areas of focus. More information about each individual fellowship can be found by searching the Yale Student Grants Database or using the links below:

Application Information:

All applications materials must be uploaded prior to 1:00 PM ET on January 29, 2026.

**UPDATE** All application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by the stated deadline. There are no exceptions and no separate deadlines for recommendations. Applications or materials received late, or submitted via e-mail or in person, will not be accepted.

A complete application consists of:

1. Application Form (Required)
Start your Common Application by clicking Apply in Yale Student Grants. Once started, you will select the fellowships (listed above) to which you are applying. Not all fellowships support all activities—please read each description carefully. Your application will be reviewed for all fellowships for which you are eligible.

2. Language Self-Evaluation (As needed)
Required if your activity involves work/operating in a non-native language. At this stage, you will submit a self-evaluation. If a formal evaluation is later required, you will be notified and referred to a Yale instructor.

3. Letter of Affiliation (Optional)
Where relevant, include a signed letter of support or affiliation from a sponsor or host contact abroad. Upload this letter via your Yale Student Grants dashboard by the deadline. Only one document can be submitted for this section.

4. Letters of Reference (2 required)

·  Requested and submitted electronically through the Student Grants Database.

·  Both must come from individuals with whom you have had a close academic or professional association (e.g., faculty member, principal investigator, supervisor).

·  At least one letter must be from someone who has taught you at Yale.

·  Letters from family members or peers are not accepted.

·  All letters must be submitted by the deadline; late letters may not be reviewed. Applicants are responsible for ensuring letters are received on time.

5. Project Proposal / Program of Study
A written proposal (max. 1,000 words, double-spaced), the format is flexible that describes:

·  The project, program of study, or activity

·  Objectives and challenges

·  Your preparation to undertake the activity independently

·  How it contributes to your educational journey

·  A detailed itinerary or timeline.

·  Any specific requirements for the target fellowship of interest

6. Résumé / List of Activities and Awards
A current résumé including significant extracurricular activities, work experience, awards, and honors relevant to your preparation.

7.
 Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts from Yale and any other post-secondary institutions attended. Upload scanned copies showing only the pages with grades (codes on the back are not required).

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an information session offered by the Office of Fellowships and may schedule an advising appointment with Dr. Mya Fisher, the Yale College Postgraduate Fellowships advisor.

Please review the fellowship descriptions and watch a recorded or upcoming information session before meeting with Dr. Fisher. Advising appointments are not intended to replace information sessions.

Special Eligibility Requirements:

Yale College Postgraduate Fellowships support language study, research, internships and independent projects. Group projects are not eligible. Not all fellowships fund all activities, so applicants must review each fellowship description carefully, as eligibility and restrictions vary.

Applicants may submit only one application with a proposal for a single, independent activity. That proposal may be considered for multiple fellowships, but the activity must be one supported by at least one fellowship and align with its stated goals. Proposals and application materials should focus on one clear project; customization for each fellowship is not required.

Projects must begin before September 1 of the award year.

There is one application cycle per academic year. December graduates must apply during the regular cycle by the January deadline in the spring following their graduation. For example, a December 2025 graduate will apply in spring 2026, with the earliest possible fellowship start date in May 2026.

If required, IRB approval must be secured before the start of any proposed research.

Restrictions to Use of Award:

Applicants must comply with all fellowship policies throughout both the application process and the term of the award. Violations may result in withdrawal of the application from consideration or, if already awarded, forfeiture of fellowship funding.

Applicants must review the Yale University International Travel Policy. Projects in specific countries within approved regions may not be eligible for funding based on current State Department Warnings and the Yale University International Travel Policy.

Yale University policy requires that certain types of research projects involving human subjects be reviewed by an institutional review board (IRB) prior to the start of the study to ensure that the project meets University requirements and any applicable regulations. Click Here to see if your project needs to be reviewed (click on "student projects"), for advice on working with human subjects, and for more information about the process and requirements.

International students are not normally given grants for projects conducted in their home countries. For any questions related to Yale College Postgraduate Fellowships, make an appointment with Dr. Mya Fisher.
