Yale may nominate one candidate each year for this scholarship. The campus nomination process is coordinated by Yale's Office of Fellowships.
To apply for Yale's nomination for the St Andrew's the following materials must be submitted, ideally via the Yale Student Grants Database:

  1. A completed application form, available here
  2. A separate document with answers to the following two questions (each answer may be no longer than 200 words): 1) Why do you wish to continue your education beyond the present year? 2) Why do you wish to study in Scotland, and how will this study contribute to your overall goals.
  3. resume/cv (2 pages max).
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation may be submitted via the Student Grants Database OR submitted to the Fellowships office in hardcopy by the Yale application deadline.
  5. A copy of your Yale Undergraduate Financial Aid award sheet or, if the applicant is not receiving financial aid, a statement and budget indicating how the applicant has met expenses at Yale and proposes to meet them in Scotland.
  6. Transcripts: For the initial campus competition, unofficial transcripts are sufficient (the Fellowships office will work with the nominee to obtain an official Yale College transcript).
  7. Official transcripts must also be requested from any other institution attended for post-secondary studies. Only one official copy of each transcript is required, and should be sent directly to Fellowship Programs by the campus application deadline.
  8. If available, a letter of affiliation/offer of a place at a Scottish university.  (At the same time as they are applying for the St Andrew's, students should also proceed with application to the Scottish university of their choice, being sure to meet the appropriate application deadline for the degree program proposed. Proof of application to the Scottish university and degree program of their choice will be required of all finalists.)
From the applicants nominated by their universities, the Society each year invites up to six finalists to New York for personal interviews in February or early March and, following this meeting, selects two Scholarship recipients.
Interested Yale applicants, after doing some research of their own, may refer questions to Jill Carrera (meetings by appointment).
