Brief Description:

The Dara Rei Onishi ’97 Fellowship will support two students engaging in education-related internships for summer 2018.  Each student will receive a stipend of $3,500 and provide a written reflection on their internship experience to the Onishi family at the end of the summer.

Proposed internships must be at least 8 weeks in duration over the summer of 2018.

  • Faculty reference: name, department, phone, and email of a Yale faculty member that the selection committee can contact about the student's academic work; no need to submit a written recommendation letter.
  • Essay A: (500 words maximum) Describe your interest in the Dara Rei Onishi '97 Fellowship. What do you think you will gain from your experience working in education in this summer? How do your previous experiences prepare you to contribute to your internship? 
  • Essay B: (250 words maximum) What area of education are you most interested to work on? What motivates your particular interest in education?




Special Eligibility Requirements:

The fellowship is open to students interested in pursuing summer education-related internships.  Award recipients must provide a written reflection on their internship to the Onishi family at the end of the summer.
