Description:

The Council on African Studies at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies invites applications for the Lindsay Fellowship for mentored research in Africa. This Fellowship is made possible through a generous gift from George N. (B.A. 1941, LL.B. 1947) and Mary Lindsay.

The purpose of the fellowship is to increase understanding and promote scholarship on Africa among Yale students. Priority will be given to M.A. students in the African Studies program and CAS graduate affiliates.

One or more fellowships of up to $3,000 will be awarded for field research in Africa. Projects must be carried out during the summer and/or fall semester in 2022. Funded students must submit a two page written report at the completion of the field experience. Recipients will also be asked to present the findings of their research at a symposium hosted by the Council on African Studies during the 2022-23 academic year. Any publication or public presentations resulting from their projects should acknowledge the support of the Lindsay Fellowship and the Council on African Studies at Yale.
