Brief Description:

The Council on Middle East Studies invites applications to the Libby Rouse Fund for Peace Fellowship competition from undergraduate and graduate students whose work focuses on the countries of the Middle East or Central Asia.

Description:

The Middle East Studies Council invites applications to the Libby Rouse Fund for Peace Fellowship competition from undergraduate and graduate students whose work focuses on the countries of the Middle East or Central Asia.

Grants range from $500 to $5,000 and can be used for summer or longer terms. Plan in advance. One competition is held in March for all travel taking place between May 2026 and April 2027.

A written report of the experience will be submitted at the completion of the award. Recipients may be asked to offer a seminar or presentation of their field project results upon their return to the Yale campus. Any publication or public presentations resulting from their projects should acknowledge the support of the Libby Rouse Fund for Peace Fellowship.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to see that the complete application reaches us by the deadline; applications cannot be considered without this information. A complete application includes the project proposal (abstract of 150 words or less plus a proposal of up to two additional pages); budget (including information about other possible sources of funding); resume; Yale transcript; language evaluation (or personal statement indicating relevant language courses taken and/or attesting to knowledge of the language at the site of study); and letter of recommendation.

Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision by late April.

Graduating students and students not returning to Yale following the project are ineligible.
