Description:

The Genocide Studies Program (GSP) at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International Affairs announces availability of the fellowships for undergraduate students to support an internship experience in the field of genocide and mass atrocity studies. The proposed internships should be with non-governmental or other organizations engaged in activities related to the prevention of genocide and mass atrocities. The internships should be approximately ten weeks in duration.

All Yale undergraduate students are eligible, except for graduating seniors.

Recipients will be required to file a brief progress report with the director of the GSP at least once during the internship and a final report of their activities upon its completion. All recipients will be asked to present reflections upon their experiences at a group event in the fall upon their return to Yale. A written report of the fellowship experience, along with an expense report including all relevant receipts, must be submitted upon the completion of the fellowship.

A complete application must include the following:

A written description (1 to 5 pages maximum) of the project for which you seek support including location and duration, and, detailed information of the organization you would like to work with.
A budget of your total estimated travel expenses and all sources of revenue including funds requested in this application.
CV
A copy of your most recent transcript. In order to obtain one please go to http://www.yale.edu/sis/ and print it as a PDF file.
One letter of recommendation from a Yale faculty member who can comment knowledgeably on your project.

Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by early May.

Restrictions to Use of Award:

The Genocide Studies Program reserves the right to audit your use of its funds. Recipients are advised to keep a log of all expenses associated with their projects, and to save all receipts in case an audit is requested for any reason. If recipients travel under the award, submission of the used airline ticket upon completion of the project is required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All undergraduate students must adhere to the Yale University International Travel Policy.
