Brief Description:

The MacMillan Center invites applications to the European Studies Council Grants for Language Study competition. Awards of up to $3,000 will be awarded to current graduate students at Yale to support intensive structured training in a European language during the summer. 


Preference will be given to graduate students pursuing area studies research related to Europe.

A Complete Application Must Contain the Following:

1. Project Proposal\Program of Study: A brief description of the location and duration of the European language study program or course for which you seek support, and an indication of how this program will contribute to your dissertation or thesis research.
2. A Budget of your total estimated travel and program expenses and all sources of revenue including funds requested in this application and all available Graduate School summer sources.
3. A copy of your application to the program and basic information/or brochure from the program, including URL.
4. A copy of your most recent transcript. An unofficial copy is acceptable.
5. A letter of recommendation



Special Eligibility Requirements:

These grants are not limited to 6-week programs, and can be awarded to strong language programs of less than 6 weeks

Restrictions to Use of Award:

All applicants must be matriculating students. 

Yale University policy requires that certain types of research projects involving human subjects be reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to the start of the study to ensure that the project meets University Policy and any other applicable regulations.
