Competition Type
Yale

Brief Description:

The Slifka Israel Summer Travel fellowships support Yale undergraduate students carrying out research, internships, and projects in Israel over the summer. Funds on this application include The Elisa Spungen Bildner ’75 and Robert Bildner ’72 Israel Travel Grant, William and Miriam Horowitz and David and Iris Fischer Judaica Project Funds and the Alec Ellison '84 and Tamar Sadeh '85 Israel Travel Fund.

Description:

Yalies in Israel is a unique program designed to connect Yale students with Israel’s rich culture, history, and society. Through curated experiences, participants explore key historical and contemporary aspects of Israel, engage with local communities, and develop a deeper understanding of the country’s complexities and innovations.

The fellowship can be used to defray the costs of travel to Israel this coming summer* for one of the following purposes:
a) Professional unpaid work (such as an internship or volunteer project)
b) Academic research (in any field)
c) Academic studies (including language studies)

As part of the application process, applicants are required to provide a detailed financial report outlining the expenses for which they are requesting funding.

At the conclusion of the program, participants are required to submit a report detailing their activities in Israel.

All applicants will be considered for all funds on this common application. Details of each individual grant fund can be found via the links below:

*As of January 17, 2025 there are Yale travel restrictions that impact travel to Israel. The hope is that these restrictions will be lifted in time for the summer, but there is no guarantee. We encourage you to apply as if the program is happening so that your plans will be ready to execute when/if travel to Israel becomes permitted.
