Brief Description:
Dreyfus Fellowships are for Yale graduate and undergraduate students who are children and grandchildren of U.S. Foreign Service Officers, active or retired. Awards to Yale students, based on merit, will be made by the DACOR Bacon House Foundation in consultation with Yale University.
Description:
The Dreyfus Scholarships are administered through the DACOR Bacon House Foundation’s Education Fund. Funded by a substantial bequest by the late Ambassador Louis G. Dreyfus, Jr., the scholarships are awarded to support the education of children and grandchildren of Foreign Service Officers and Foreign Service Specialists (active duty, retired or deceased) attending Yale University at either the undergraduate or graduate level. There is no restriction as to field of study.
Application Information:
Applications are submitted directly to the DACOR Bacon House Foundation at comm.prog@dacorbacon.org by May 1 of each year for the following academic year. The application package includes:
· Brief letter of interest (within body of email acceptable)
· Resume
· Most recent transcript
· One-page statement of academic goals
· Copy of parent/grandparent’s most recent Foreign Service appointment, assignment or promotion or retirement (usually a SF-50)
The available award amount of $35,000 is divided equally among eligible selected students. All awards are for tuition and academic fees only and monies are sent directly to Yale University.
Scholarship funds are for one year only, but the student may be selected again by submitting a renewal application that includes:
· An email clearly stating an interest in renewing the reward for the upcoming academic year
· A copy of the most recent transcript
· A summary of the current academic year (studies, internships, other items of note) and any exciting events/opportunities you expect to happen in the upcoming academic year.

Special Eligibility Requirements:
Aspirants may apply for the Dreyfus awards at the time of their application for admission to Yale University. Any Dreyfus award would be contingent upon confirmation by Yale University that the student has been admitted or is in good standing.
Restrictions to Use of Award:
Awards will be applicable to university-billed expenses only.
